Studies and articles on Philippine Republic issues by:

Philatelic Specialist - Republic of the Philippines

Due to the improvement in the designs and quality of Philippine stamps in the last few years, with many topical issues and attractive souvenir sheets, more and more collectors are taking notice of Philippine new issues.  With the huge stocks of old issues in the vaults finally disposed of, and the printing of only 20,000 to 30,000 stamps and 5,000 to 8,000 souvenir sheets, Republic stamps are finally getting the serious attention of collectors.  After the philatelic sales period of one year for all commemorative and special issues, all unsold stocks are sent all over the country for postage use.  So, without the threat of the Post Office' stocks of old issues being sold at face value looming over the philatelic market, collectors should fill up the empty spaces in their albums as soon as possible before everyone realizes how scarce many of the issues of the last 20 years are.  (Dr. Ngo Tiong Tak)
