Commemorating the 50th Anniversary, Short-lived Philippine Republic, Malolos

From official Philatelic Bulletin:

The 50-centavo stamps, Republic (Pictorial) series, overprinted “O.B.” in jet black will have its first day issue January 23, 1949, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary or Golden Jubilee of the formal inauguration of the short-lived “Philippine Republic” at the historic Barasoain Church, Malolos, Bulacan.  While O.B. issues are only for official matters of the government, in view of its philatelic significance, covers and souvenirs bearing this new issue, if presented to the postmaster at Malolos, Bulacan on January 23, 1949, shall be impressed with a special first day issue canceller and cachet, as a tribute to the heroes who died fighting that this country might become a home of the free.
