The Founding

Walter Neal Boysen founded Boysen Paints in Oakland, California USA, in 1926.
Taking advantage of his 6 years salesman experience for PPG Paint Company, Walter began manufacturing paints under his own label.

His business followed a steady growth and a series of expansion despite the economic challenges of the US Depression years. Boysen implemented a heavy advertising campaign and created a network of dealer accounts which paid off and led to a stronger sales and acquisition of key retail outlets in Oregon and Washington states. This was followed by a strategic move to improve capacity of its existing Oakland plant and a purchase of a factory in Los Angeles later on. The construction boom after the second world war led to a major expansion that brought the company to 11 US states.

Establishment in Asia

Boysen Paints was introduced to Asia in the 1960s. It has given Pacific Paints the license to manufacture its premium paint products. It carried the Nation brand, its economical paint line. The growing market share in Asia and the Pacific, especially in the Philippine market, necessitated the creation of a fully integrated state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Cavite, Philippines. This ISO certified paint facility is said to be the most modern paint factory in Southeast Asia.

In its more than 50 years of leadership in the Philippine industry, Boysen has earned milestones for delivering high quality paint and innovative products. Its major achievements include the adoption of pure acrylic technology, the introduction of Virtuoso, a stain resistant paint that utilizes Teflon technology, and Healthy Home paints with Microban Anti-bacterial protection. Readers Digest Most Trusted Brands Survey, the most credible and most transparent branding survey, has awarded Boysen a Platinum status for the second year in a row, 2006 and 2007. It is also the First Filipino paint company to be given by SPIK, also known as the Chemical Industries Association of the Philippines, the privilege to use the Responsible Care logo. Boysen belongs in Coatings Agenda Top 50 Paint Companies in the World in terms of volume produced.  (http://www.eboysen.com/aboutus.htm)
