Bridges Foundation, Inc. (BFI)
In June of 1992, Bridges Foundation, Inc. was established as a
non-stock, non-profit institution that caters to children with
developmental disabilities, e.g. autism, mental retardation,
emotional and behavioral disorders, neurological impairments and
multi-handicaps. It maintains
a socialized tuition fee scheme which allows families with limited
financial resources access top quality education.
With the help of many sincere and good-hearted individuals who lent
their moral, material and financial support, Bridges has grown
from a faculty of three teachers and five students when the school
formally opened in early 1992, to its current population of
80 students and 16 faculty members. In 2000, Bridges opened a
regular pre-school through its sister-school Links Learning Center
to provide for an in-house mainstreaming program for its special
children who are ready.
BRIDGES believes that all children are unique. That special children
have an innate potential for growth that develops through active
interaction with the environment.
It also believes in the importance of parent-involvement in
the education of children.
