Office of the Regional (ORG) - Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Certification

Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)*.   After undergoing the external audit of TUV Rheinland Philippines on its quality management system, the office has been recommended for ISO 9001: 2008 Certification**.

For more than 20 years, the ARMM was labeld as a “failed experiment” because of lack of political and fiscal autonomy and poor administration.  But due to the management and administrative reforms for the past four years championed by Regional Governor Mujiv S. Hataman and supported by his secretaries and heads of offices, the rgion has achieved unprecedented accomplishments in its commitment to pursue a reformed regional government.

ARMM History.  The history of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao can only be understood in the context of how the Bangsamoro people continuously struggle for self-rule and self-determination and how the national politics address the “Moro problem”.

The creation of which was enshrined in the 1987 Constitution and established by Republic Act 9054, the ARMM is now composed of the province of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawiwi, and the cities of Marawi and Lamitan.

The ARMM today underwent a series of structural and systemic modifications starting from the regional regroupings in 1975 up to the expansion of the regional government in 2002.  For more information – http://www.armm.gov.ph/rgional-governor/

* The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is an Autonomous region of the Philippines, located in the Mindanao island group of the Philippines, that comprises five predominantly Muslim provinces: Basilan (except Isabela City), Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It is the only region that has its own government. The regional capital is at Cotabato City, although the city is outside of its jurisdiction.

**  ISO Certification can be a useful tool to add credibility, by demonstrating that your product or service meets the expectations of your customers. For some industries, certification is a legal or contractual requirement.
