CHRISTMAS 2017 - FEATURING ARTWORKS OF CHILDREN OF KYTHE FOUNDATION

The Kythe Foundation Incorporated is a non-stock non-profit organization that provides psychosocial care and assistance to pediatric patients in hospitals. The name is derived the Scottish word, “kythe,” or “kything” which means communicating through minds with no need for words or pictures. The foundation aims to provide healing through sharing and togetherness. It was established in 1992 by Maria Fatima Garcia-Lorenzo and Icar Castro, who are psychology graduates of Ateneo de Manila University. In 1994, the foundation was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock non-profit corporation. In 2004, Kythe received a Certification of Accreditation from the Philippine Council of NGO Certification.

Kythe Foundation envisions a better quality of life for the patients by providing a positive outlook to the children and their families.

Its psychosocial activities for patients were formally dubbed as the Child Life Program in 1998. The foundation aims that the Child Life Program be implemented in affiliate hospitals and institutions and be integrated in more health care settings. It also aims to increase public awareness of the program thru education and research.

Kythe welcomes volunteers who are willing to participate in playroom or bedside activities with the children. A volunteer program orientation is held monthly. Events, such as birthday parties, may also be held in Kythe-affiliate hospitals.
