CHRISTMAS 2019 - TRADITIONS

There is no other country that does Christmas like the Philippines. Christmas carols can be heard as early as September; festivities can last up until the Feast of the Epiphany on the first week of January the following year.

This year’s Christmas design features a children’s choir and their families singing with them at a series of Novena Masses held at dawn, known locally as Simbang Gabi/Misa de Gallo. Devotees attend these Masses reverently, trusting that after completing the novena of masses, they will be granted answers to their prayers. Simbang Gabi starts on 16 December and ends on the morning of the 24th. It is closely followed by the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass and Noche Buena, a traditional feast which gathers the entire family together. Christmas is a glorious affair for Filipino families all over the world.
