MARINDUQUE (1920-2020) SENTENARYO NG PUSO NG PILIPINAS

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) issues a commemorative cover in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the Province of Marinduque.

Marinduque had been attached to the island province Mindoro and to Lubang, making up a province before being annexed to Tayabas.

Through the passage of Public Act No. 2280 on February 21, 1920 by the Philippine Congress, Marinduque attained its provincehood once more.  This year, we mark the 100th anniversary of this event.

The island-province of Marinduque is known for holding one of the most famous religious festivals of the Philippines, the Moriones Festival, regularly held during Semana Santa or Holy Week.

In honor of this momentous occasion, PHLPost issued commemorative covers for the 100-year anniversary of the Province of Marinduque along with special slogan cancel.   The slogan bears the image of the seal of the Province of Marinduque as well as the insignia for the centennial celebrations.  Inscriptions:  “Marinduque / 1920 – 2020 / SENTENARYO / Alab ng Puso ng Pilipinas”;  Used in Manila & Boac, Marinduque, Feb. 21, 2020.
