In Search of Varieties

New varieties  of the 2004 Philippine Orchids definitives, Series VIII, have recently been discovered by a William Tharp of Canada.  This was reported to Dr. Ngo Tiong Tak who has written an extensive, well-researched article on this issue.

RP stamps has a wealth of varieties, if only collectors will take time to study them.  Paper varieties, printing varieties, color varieties, errors, etc… are still discovered today.   This, I believe, is due to both the printers and Philpost, formerly Bureau of Posts, lack of philatelic knowledge and disregard to philatelic value of stamps.

The last few years saw a vast improvement on Philpost's attitude. However, previous year’s issues remain untapped.  It is up to us to start searching.  I challenge RP collectors to study issues from the very start (1946) to the present and report to us any findings.  Not only will we be documenting them, but we will be helping future students of RP Philately.

Please go to our web-library and read Dr. Ngo’s article reporting on the newly discovered varieties:  The 2003-2004 Native Orchids Definitives – Updated.
